Surprise! More bad news for the Lakers
INJURY UPDATE:

  • Steve Blake had an ultrasound test today which confirmed a moderate strain of his right hamstring. He is out indefinitely.
  • Steve Nash received two epidural injections in his back today; he also received a cortisone shot in his right hip. His status for tomorrow’s game is doubtful.
  • Jodie Meeks will have an MRI test this afternoon on his sprained left ankle. His status for tomorrow’s game is doubtful.

In an all around team effort the Lakers clinch the 7th seed in the West, beating the Houston Rockets in overtime 99-95! They will take on the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference playoffs. Game 1 in San Antonio is on Sunday.

In tonight’s win, Steve Blake went 6-20 with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Pau Gasol had a triple double (!!) going 7-17 with 17 points, 20 (!!!) rebounds, and 11 assists. Dwight Howard also went 6-15 for 16 points, 18 (!!!) rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocked shots, and some monster defensive plays late in the game.

The Lakers (19-25) try to move their win streak to 3 as they take on the New Orleans Pelicans Hornets (15-29) tonight at 7:30PM PST on NBATV. 

Steve Blake WILL return to the court tonight after being sidelined with an abdomen injury since early November.
